Blood and Green

Red like this is rare. It sits high above the green, up where the atmosphere thins out, and most nights you never see it at all. I climbed up onto the rocks to put that weathered stone between me and the horizon, then waited for the curtain to swing. The green came down close enough to light the tundra. The red just hung there over the whole sky. I shot wide to keep the Milky Way in the frame and let the color do the rest. Photo © copyright by Michael Schultz.
