Black and white long exposure photograph of dramatic sea stacks on Oregon coast with silky water motion at Bandon Beach

Timeless Motion

Oregon Coast

I love how a long exposure can transform a chaotic scene into something serene. The Oregon coast was being battered by waves when I set up for this shot, but by slowing down time with my 10-stop ND filter, all that energy becomes smooth and calm. The sea stacks stand as silent witnesses while everything around them flows. This is exactly why I'm drawn to showing motion in my images rather than trying to freeze it—there's a story in the passage of time that you just can't get from a split second.
