Layered Light
Norway
Norwegian mountains at sunset, shot with my 100-500mm to compress the distance and stack these ridge lines into layers. This is the compression effect I'm always talking about—mountains that are miles apart suddenly appear stacked on top of each other, creating depth through tone rather than perspective. The golden sunset clouds were the perfect backdrop for these dark silhouettes. Sometimes telephoto is the only way to tell the story you're seeing. Photo © copyright by Michael Schultz.
