<image:caption>Brown bear portrait at Lake Clark National Park. This close—close enough to see every strand of fur, every whisker, the texture of that nose, and most importantly, that eye. That watchful, intelligent eye that's fully aware of my presence even as the bear appears focused elsewhere. I converted to black and white because at this intimacy, color becomes distraction. In monochrome, this becomes pure form and texture—the incredible detail of the fur, the powerful profile, the quiet intensity of an apex predator. These bears tolerate photographers at close range, but they're never unaware. That sideways glance says everything: I see you. I know you're there. This is the privilege of photographing coastal brown bears—intimate access to one of the most powerful animals on earth.</image:caption>

 <image:title>Enchanted Forest</image:title>
<image:caption>Snow ghosts at twilight in Alaska. These are trees so heavily laden with snow and rime ice that they become unrecognizable—sculptural forms that look like they belong on another planet. When the conditions are right, the snow builds up layer after layer, freezing into these incredible shapes that can stand for months through the winter. I shot this at twilight when the sky turns that incredible purple-to-pink gradient, casting cool light on the frozen forms. This is Alaska in deep winter—temperatures well below zero, snow measured in feet not inches, and landscapes that feel like stepping into a fairytale. The tallest snow ghost on the right stood maybe fifteen feet tall, completely transformed from the tree it once was. This is why I live here. This is Alaska at its most magical.</image:caption>

 <image:title>The Forager</image:title>
<image:caption>Most people think of brown bears catching salmon, but they're opportunistic foragers. At Lake Clark National Park, when the tide goes out, these coastal giants walk the exposed flats digging for clams—protein-rich food that sustains them between salmon runs. This bear was completely focused on foraging, oblivious to everything else. That silhouette against the moody sky, the rim light catching every strand of wet fur, the sparkling bokeh from the wet beach—black and white captures the raw power and focus of this moment. This is wildlife photography that tells a story.</image:caption>

<image:caption>The textures in this scene tell the story—those beautifully weathered rounded rocks worn smooth by millennia of Arctic waves, the wet sand reflecting golden light, the jagged Lofoten peaks cutting into moody clouds. Long exposure captured the water's motion around the rocks while keeping every detail sharp in that foreground formation. This is what draws me to coastal photography: the contrast between solid enduring stone and constant moving water, all lit by ever-changing Arctic light. Lofoten delivers these moments in endless variety.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Composition is about layers and leading lines. These textured rock formations in the foreground pull your eye into the frame, leading you across the silky water toward those silhouetted mountains, up to the dramatic sky where golden light breaks through. Long exposure smoothed the water, emphasizing the solid rocks and distant peaks. Every element has a purpose—foreground to draw you in, mid-ground to guide your eye, background mountains for scale, and that sky providing the drama. This is the Norwegian coast at its absolute best.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Sometimes the most powerful coastal images are the simplest. Dark rock. Silky water. One golden sunbeam. The Oregon Coast stripped to its essential elements—stone, sea, light. Long exposure removes detail from the water, clouds obscure the sky, leaving just this: texture, tone, and that brief moment of illumination. Minimalist seascape photography at its most dramatic.</image:caption>

I waited, watching, until this moment—one forested ridge emerging from the swirling mist, autumn trees at the summit catching golden light for just a few minutes. <image:caption>Mountain photography is all about atmospheric conditions. This French Alps peak rising from swirling clouds with warm golden light breaking through—it's about being there when weather creates drama. While most of my French Alps images focus on water and intimate details, this shows the bigger context: the massive peaks that dominate this landscape. The jagged rock and snow, the moody clouds, that brief perfect light—you have to look up from your primary subject and capture the environment too. </image:caption>

 <image:title>River Sentinel</image:title>
<image:caption>Sometimes after shooting dramatic slot gorges and massive boulders, you find the quiet composition. One rock. Turquoise water. Spring green canopy. The Dranse River's seventh perspective is the most minimalist—focusing on simplicity instead of drama, peace instead of power. This is the balance every comprehensive location portfolio needs: the dramatic AND the peaceful, the complex AND the simple. Seven images from one river, each with its own mood and story.</image:caption>

 <image:title>Diagonal Descent</image:title>
<image:caption>Sometimes the most compelling images aren't of the whole waterfall—they're the abstract details that most people walk past. Upper Cascade d'Ardent, where water splits into multiple streams flowing diagonally across layered rock. The texture of that rock face, the pattern of the water flow, the way it creates these natural diagonal lines—this is art created by geology and water over thousands of years. I just captured it with long exposure and close perspective. This is looking closer instead of always stepping back.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Dranse River, French Alps. Sixth perspective from this incredible river—and this one is all about waiting for the light. That brief moment when sun breaks through the dense forest canopy and spotlights the spring-green trees while turquoise glacial water flows below. This is why you don't leave a location too early. This is why you stay and explore. The light changes, magic happens, and if you're patient enough to still be there, you capture it. I've already shown you five completely different views of this river, and I'm still finding more. This is what thorough location work looks like.</image:caption>

<image:caption>These cascading rapids on the Dranse River show a different personality than the smooth turquoise bend or the dramatic slot gorge. Here the water is alive with energy—leaping over rocks, creating multiple small waterfalls, that glacial blue contrasting with dark moss-covered stones. Long exposure smooths the chaos into silky flow while keeping the rocks sharp. Every section of this river told a different story, and I stayed long enough to capture all of them.</image:caption>

<image:caption>This boulder has sat in the Dranse River for who knows how long, slowly being covered in moss and lichen, water carving patterns around it year after year. The glacial turquoise flows around it like liquid light, that long exposure turning the rushing spring melt into silk. Those textured rocks framing the scene, the lush green forest above—every element working together. I could have photographed just the wide view and been happy. But taking the time to explore and find perspectives like this is what separates a good day of photography from a great one.</image:caption>

Colorful glacial stones, silky water flow, abstract patterns. This is looking at your feet instead of just the horizon. Both perspectives matter. Both are valid photographs. Work the location completely.</image:caption>

Long exposure smooths the rushing spring flow while the moss-covered fallen tree and rocks stay sharp. Spring in the Alps is something special—everything green, rivers running hard, that unique glacial blue.</image:caption>

This is the compression effect I'm always talking about—mountains that are miles apart suddenly appear stacked on top of each other, creating depth through tone rather than perspective. <image:title>Timeless Motion</image:title>
<image:caption>I love how a long exposure can transform a chaotic scene into something serene. The Oregon coast was being battered by waves when I set up for this shot, but by slowing down time with my 10-stop ND filter, all that energy becomes smooth and calm. The sea stacks stand as silent witnesses while everything around them flows. This is exactly why I'm drawn to showing motion in my images rather than trying to freeze it—there's a story in the passage of time that you just can't get from a split second.</image:caption>

I showed up at Bandon Beach before sunrise hoping for decent light, and instead got this—sea stacks rising out of the surf while the sky went pink and blue. The long exposure smoothed everything out, turning the water into pure silk and giving those clouds this dreamy, stretched quality. What I love about this shot is how minimal it feels. Just rock, water, and color. Nothing else needed.
